Passeggiata a Bologna
With their new programme, the four musicians that make up the Ensemble l’Ornamento transport us to Bologna of the 17th and 18th century. What do such composers as Tarquinio Merula, Maurizio Cazzati, Domenico Gabrielli, Giuseppe Matteo Alberti and Arcangelo Corelli – who all lived in the northern Italian town during this era when the arts enjoyed immense popularity – have in common? The answer lies in their ability to break down outmoded patterns, to generate sounds never heard before and to create a vast array of new forms of expression. See for yourself how the four Ensemble l’Ornamento musicians convey the music’s irresistible Italian charm.
