From the tredecime to the third octave
The development of the recorder as an instrument in the 21st century
On Saturday morning, an entirely new format awaits you, which we are lifting out of the eaves this year: We cordially invite you to a conference: Under the title ‘From the Tredecime to the Third Octave’, the development of the recorder as an instrument will be discussed, presented and played, starting from baroque models up to the new developments of the 21st century.
The new recorder types with their musical and technical features and possibilities are the protagonists in this discussion concert.
Sound examples of the original baroque recorder and its modifications for today’s concert halls await you. The most important modern recorder types are represented in this experiment, which will mutate into an extraordinary listening experience:
- The Helder Tenor is presented and performed by Susanne Fröhlich.
- The Eagle comes into play through Piers Adams.
- The modern recorder Ehlert is presented in different versions.
- The Elody gets a special appearance.
Welcome to our new format!
