Grand Tour

Dorothee Oberlinger, Maurice Steger & Sebastian Wienand

A Concert of Superlatives!!!

Dorothee Oberlinger, Maurice Steger, and Sebastian Wienand take you on a journey through baroque Europe to the treasures of flute music, presenting the most dazzling works for two recorders and basso continuo. However, it’s not just the works that make this concert so extraordinary! All three musicians have close ties to the Recorder Days festival and have a long concert tradition in various ensembles at our festival. But they have never shared the stage together before. A “Grand Tour” demands, in every aspect, something unique. And what could be more fitting than realizing this program together!

In Bad Kissingen, Dorothee Oberlinger and Maurice Steger bring together two musicians who, over the past decades, have not only shaped but also transformed their field. Tirelessly and passionately, they advocate for their instrument, the recorder, for Early Music, as well as for avant-garde and education in Europe and worldwide. With the highly virtuosic harpsichordist Sebastian Wienand, they have found the best possible companion for this Grand Tour.

A concert highlight transcending all geographical and musical boundaries!

Starting with Giovanni Battista Spadi in the late Renaissance, they traverse the centuries from Henry Purcell or Georg Philipp Telemann to Johann Sebastian Bach and his son Wilhelm Friedemann – not without captivating the audience along the way with Antonio Vivaldi’s breathtaking “La Follia.” This magnificent concert is introduced in a special way! Stay tuned and look forward to this wonderful “musical voyage”!

“Grand Tour”: Music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, Dario Castello, Louis Couperin, Godfrey Finger, Henry Purcell, Salomone Rossi, Giovanni Battista Spadi, Georg Philipp Telemann, Francesco Turini, Antonio Vivaldi.
