Flute’s Paradise
Michael Oman, recorder & Austrian Baroque Company
Starting from Anthony Holborne’s “Paradizo” from the collection Pavans, Galliards & Almains (1599), the first printed collection of dance music in England, Michael Oman creates a richly coloured panorama of Italian and English sound worlds.
Sparkling cascades of Italian instrumental music meet early Baroque affective expression and the humorous esprit of British nobility – a musical “flute paradise” that moves between Tea Time and Dancing Time and is full of precious discoveries.
The Austrian Baroque Company celebrates its debut at the Blockflötenfesttage. Since its founding in 2001, the ensemble has been internationally acclaimed and repeatedly awarded for its explosive music-making, magnificent recorder playing and Baroque swing.
Founder and director is the recorder virtuoso Michael Oman, trained in Austria, the Netherlands and Italy, who delights audiences and critics alike with energy, joy in music-making and stylistic brilliance.
