MUSIC TRADE FAIR
Instrument Exhibition – Music Fair of the Blockflötenfesttage 2026 in Bad Kissingen
Fine instruments made from rare and precious woods, newly rediscovered as well as contemporary sheet music editions, and smart, practical accessories: this exceptional variety awaits visitors on more than 1,200 m² of exhibition space in the magnificent historic halls of the Regentenbau in Bad Kissingen, as part of the Instrument Exhibition of the Blockflötenfesttage 2026.
Publishers, instrument makers and specialist retailers from all over the world present handcrafted recorders, high-quality traversos, historical reed and double-reed instruments, and finely crafted gemshorns. The exhibition is further enriched by historic keyboard instruments, hurdy-gurdies and drums, creating a unique panorama of historical and modern early music instruments. The UNESCO World Heritage–listed halls of the Regentenbau provide a dignified and aesthetically perfect setting for these outstanding exhibits.
The largest part of the exhibition is formed by the stands of recorder makers, who showcase instruments in many different models, wood types and pitch standards. Visitors enjoy the rare opportunity to try out, directly compare and receive expert advice on a wide range of instruments in one place — an invaluable advantage compared with purchasing instruments online or from catalogues.
Safe and Hygienic Instrument Testing with VIR-X® Disinfection Systems
To ensure that wind instruments can be safely and hygienically tested throughout the exhibition in 2026, the organisers provide three VIR-X® disinfection units free of charge for exhibitors and visitors. These systems use a combination of special UV-C radiation and ozone to achieve fast, effective and material-safe disinfection of woodwind instruments, inside and out.
VIR-X systems are widely used by leading instrument-making workshops and European conservatoires and music universities and meet the highest standards of hygiene while protecting delicate materials. This service reflects the professional standards of the exhibition and allows musicians to try instruments with complete peace of mind.
More Than an Exhibition: Meeting Point of the International Recorder and Early Music Community
The Instrument Exhibition of the Blockflötenfesttage is much more than a trade fair: it is an international meeting place for musicians, instrument makers and music publishers. Browsing through specialist sheet music, rare recordings and new editions, engaging in expert conversations and enjoying spontaneous musical encounters are all part of the unique atmosphere that draws visitors back year after year.
The exhibition is rounded off by a wide range of exquisite recorder accessories. From hand-sewn recorder bags to elegant flute stands, music stands, music lights and much more, you will find everything a recorder player could desire at our sales exhibition.
And quite often, visitors leave the exhibition with a newly discovered treasure — whether an instrument, a rare edition or fresh musical inspiration. This combination of discovery, hands-on experience, professional exchange and artistic inspiration is what makes the Blockflötenfesttage Instrument Exhibition 2026 in Bad Kissingen a key date in the calendar of the international early music scene.
