Of Heaven and Earth
Jeremias Schwarzer
The program of this Late Night concert could not be more timely. Jeremias Schwarzer dedicates his recital to the big questions of human life, with a particular focus on those of our time.
From the works of Jacob van Eyck, which primarily highlight folk songs, dance melodies, church works, psalms, and daily songs, to Hildegard von Bingen, who viewed music as a healing remedy and whose musical works were equally shaped by her faith and her pursuit of “heavenly harmony,” Schwarzer bridges the gap to contemporary music with a piece by Liza Lim.
The central themes of her work always revolve around cooperation and transcultural ideas. The roots of beauty, the concept of time in relation to human impact on nature and the environment, and the sensory awareness of ecological interconnections are the core themes of her compositions.
A later program could hardly be more exciting.
